These days in the hair and beauty market there are lots of products which use labels such as ionic, ceramic coating and tourmaline plates. But what are these features and do they really work? And do they make a difference to a hair tools performance and are they worth the extra money to be paid on that item?

They also report that the hair was easier to style and manage after the use of this type of dryer. There are other factors to consider like motor power and also the quality of the engine inside the dryer and its ability to create the right temperature. Other factors also include how you dry your hair, if speed is a big issue then drying in a particular manner may affect how quickly or slowly your hair dries.

If you want to find out if a hair dryer is effective with its ions here’s a simple test when purchasing. First ask for the hair dryer to be taken from the box, switch it on and let it get to temperature. Switch the ION button to off, this is usual on quality dryers. Apply the heat to the back of your hand for about half to a full minute, do this about 15 to 20 cm away. Then feel the back of your hand the skin should feel its normal self or smooth. Now repeat the process turning on the ION button, again apply for about 25 seconds to a full minute. Then when complete feel the back of your hand it should feel a little rougher. This shows the negative ions are opening up the pores on your skin. This process is the same process when applied to your hair the cuticle of the hair is opened by the dryer.
